About Wendy

Honouring the original text of J.M. Barrie's Peter Pan, but reimagined for a 21st century audience, Wendy takes centre stage as she charts a path in Neverland from youthful innocence to changing the world alongside the much-loved characters of Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Captain Hook and the Lost Boys.

Featuring original songs, the revival of forgotten Barrie characters including the Never Bird and the Mermaid, and a colourful and exhilarating production featuring dazzling costumes, stunning lighting and an array of digital effects. Writers-composers Jonathan Alver and James Doy have crafted an incredible song list reflecting the eccentric nature of J M Barrie's writing whilst bringing it alive for a new generation.

A pre-audition information session is being held at the NPOS Complex from 2-4pm on Sunday 24 November 2024. Following the session audition bookings will be available via this page.

Auditions will be held on 18-19 January 2025.

Character Roles

Wendy: Imaginative yet responsible, Wendy is a nurturing, adventurous spirit. She craves freedom in a world that expects her to be sensible, balancing a love for stories with the weight of growing up.

Peter Pan: Eternal youth embodied, Peter is mischievous, fearless, and never content to face the adult world. He cherishes freedom above all and resists the pull of time.

Captain Hook: A vengeful yet tragic figure, Hook is a pirate captain consumed by the need for revenge against Peter Pan. His bitterness and heartache fuel his relentless quest for power.

Smee: Loyal and kind-hearted, Smee is Hook’s soft-spoken first mate. While dutiful, his gentle nature often conflicts with the ruthless orders of his captain.

Tiger Lily: Fiercely independent, Tiger Lily is a poised leader, both strong and graceful. Her wisdom and courage inspire those around her, and her loyalty to her people is unshakable.

Tinkerbell: A fiery, tiny fairy with an intense devotion to Peter, Tinkerbell is both jealous and loving, her emotions as bright as her sparkling wings.

The Mermaid: A haunting, ethereal beauty, the Mermaid is full of song and mystery. She is wise but wary of humans, fearing they’ll bring trouble to her peaceful home.

The Neverbird: A creature of the impossible, the Neverbird exists as a symbol of Neverland’s strange wonders. She’s mysterious and has finally found her place amidst the island’s magical chaos.

Mr. Darling: Well-meaning but often hapless, Mr. Darling is a loving father who struggles with the demands of family life. His chaotic nature is tempered by his deep affection for his children.

Mrs. Darling: The heart of the family, Mrs. Darling is practical, caring, and strong. Her calm presence anchors her family, and her love for her children is unwavering, even in the face of the unknown

John Darling: Practical and brave, John is the responsible middle child. He tries to act grown-up, often taking charge, but still yearns for adventure and excitement, especially alongside his siblings.

Michael Darling: Sweet and innocent, Michael is the youngest with a big heart. He looks up to his siblings and eagerly embraces every adventure with childlike wonder.
